Educational Advocacy

Growth Psychological Services offers educational advocacy and support services. Dr. Anna Benton draws on extensive experience as a school psychologist to support families in understanding and navigating the process of obtaining services through the school district. Anna has spent years working in local school districts conducting school-based evaluations, attending eligibility meetings, and writing IEP goals.

She has intricate knowledge of how these processes work and how eligibility for services is determined. She uses this knowledge to advocate for your child to receive the appropriate supports and interventions based on their needs to allow them to thrive academically. Anna takes a collaborative approach in her advocacy work. She works with you to identify goals and needs for your child at school. She uses her expertise and insider knowledge to work with your school district to effectively push for the support your child may need.

Educational advocacy can include a variety of services:

• Reviewing academic and testing records

• Education for parents about what these records may suggest for support needs

• Consultation and education about the process of obtaining academic supports

• Preparation for and attending IEP and 504 Plan eligibility meetings

• Support in writing IEP goals

• Review of IEP and 504 Plan documentation to ensure needs are met

• Follow up consultation or communication with parents and the school district to ensure plans are followed

Educational advocacy is not covered through insurance and is a self-pay service only. Costs are billed at $100 per 30 minute interval. A starting cost will typically be $400, which will reflect 1 hour of record & report review and a 1 hour consultation meeting with Dr. Benton to discuss the process and available options.
