Dr. Anna Benton
Dr. Anna Benton is bilingual and able to offer services in English and Russian.
Dr. Anna Benton is a Licensed School Psychologist and post-doctoral fellow at Growth Psychological Services. She earned her M.A. and Ph.D. from University of Minnesota, and was awarded a fellowship through University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee to conduct research utilizing trauma-informed interventions. She completed her clinical and school-based training at a variety of sites, including psychiatric hospitals, therapeutic schools, mental health clinics, public schools, and transitional programs for adults with disabilities. She has since worked with pediatric populations, adolescents, and adults in a variety of educational settings across Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Illinois prior to joining Growth Psychological Services in 2021.
Anna provides neuropsychological, psychological, and psycho-educational evaluations for kids, teens, and adults. She specializes in helping clients and families explore and understand neurodiversity, including Autism, ADHD, and Learning Disabilities. Anna has extensive experience working with families navigating alternative school placements, psychiatric hospitalizations, DCFS involvement, and low-incidence impairments (i.e., cognitive disabilities, psychiatric conditions). Anna takes a comprehensive and integrated approach in testing to help clients explore questions around learning and cognition, executive functioning, social-emotional behaviors, personality styles, and social skills. Throughout the evaluation process, Anna seeks to delineate a client’s personal strengths and weaknesses and translate these findings into meaningful recommendations and explicit strategies to help support the client.
As a licensed school psychologist, Anna also has extensive experience navigating school systems, and offers consultation to families seeking support in navigating these systems, as well as an ability to attend school meetings and advocate for your student’s needs. She brings a wealth of knowledge in how to navigate the process of requesting and advocating for appropriate school-based instruction, including Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), Individual Service Plans (ISPs), and 504 Accommodation Plans. She has expertise in identifying various services, goals, and accommodations that may support the client in educational settings.
