Karen Thompson, LCSW
Karen Thompson is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) who graduated from the University of New Hampshire with certificates in child welfare and intellectual and developmental disabilities. Karen has previous experience working in the school setting at both the elementary and middle school levels. She offers both individual and family therapy services and works with children, teens, and adults. She has supported students with emotional regulation and social skills development. She has worked with a range of presenting concerns, including, but not limited to, ADHD, anxiety, depression, trauma, self-esteem, family conflicts, school difficulties, and parenting strategies.
Karen takes an integrated approach in therapy. She incorporates interventions from CBT, solution-focused, and motivational interviewing approaches. She uses a trauma-informed systems approach to focus on how thoughts and feelings affect behavior. Karen enjoys partnering with clients to help them address concerns that may be generating uncomfortable feelings or preventing them from achieving their goals. She aims to help empower clients and their families to gain a deeper understanding of themselves, develop a stronger sense of self-esteem, and build skills that will allow them to have healthy and successful relationships with others.
