Dr. Tom Malia
Dr. Tom Malia is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist. He earned his doctorate from Roosevelt University, Master’s degree from Pepperdine University, and a Bachelor’s degree from Purdue University. He completed his clinical training at a variety of sites, including community mental health centers and hospital settings. He has since worked in a private practice setting and focuses on testing and evaluation services. He has received certification in Therapeutic Assessment (level 1).
Dr. Tom has extensive experience with comprehensive psychological and neuropsychological testing and assessments for a wide age range from childhood through adults. His approach with psychological testing is focused on understanding the individual’s strengths and weaknesses across all aspects of their life – at school or work, at home, with peers, and their own internal world of thoughts and feelings. Dr. Tom works with individuals and their families to identify questions that they would like to have answered through testing and customizes an assessment battery that will be best suited to answer those questions. He then seeks to present results in an integrated format that is easily understood by both parents and professionals alike. An emphasis is placed on providing concrete recommendations for treatment, home, school, or other areas that are based on the results of testing.
Dr. Tom specializes in working with neurodiverse clients (e.g. - autism, ADHD, giftedness, and learning disorders). He also has experience conducting assessments for a broad range of presenting questions, including emotional and personality functioning and acting out behaviors. Dr. Tom offers Collaborative Therapeutic Assessments (CTA) with adolescents and adults.
